What is pretend play?
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the definition of pretend play is “when children experiment with different social roles in a nonliteral fashion.” But that’s just a fancy way of saying that pretend play is really role play — or when kids act out different scenarios using their imagination.
How will pretend toys work?
By pretending to play games, children can learn and grow in many ways. Giving them a pretend toy enables you as parent/caregiver to create an environment where your child experiments with language through exploring activities that they see or experience elsewhere; it is also important for encouraging him/her use his imagination which leads into creating interesting settings at home.
